Grupa Azoty and Łukasiewicz Research Network to jointly develop green projects

Under a newly signed Letter of Intent, Grupa Azoty and the Łukasiewicz Research Network have outlined three main areas of collaboration: energy transformation, circular economy, and industrial decarbonization. The parties will engage in discussions to finalize a cooperation agreement.

The projects of interest to Grupa Azoty and Łukasiewicz will focus on supporting the transition to renewable energy sources, integrating renewable energy systems with other energy generation and storage systems, and developing technologies and processes aimed at reducing CO2 emissions. Both parties are also keen on solutions to minimize waste and maximize resource reuse.

“At Grupa Azoty, we are currently updating our 2021 Strategy, with a key focus on creating a decarbonization plan that addresses the challenges facing the fertilizer and chemical industry while aligning with the financial capacities of our subsidiaries. For future green production projects, we are considering partnerships with potential collaborators. We aim to make Łukasiewicz—one of Europe’s largest research networks—a key partner, which is a tremendous advantage for our planned initiatives,” said Paweł Bielski, Vice President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty S.A., responsible for strategy, energy, and climate transformation.

“Energy transformation and the circular economy are strategic priorities for the Łukasiewicz Research Network. These initiatives support the transition to energy-efficient and eco-friendly solutions, reducing carbon footprints and promoting effective resource management. In this context, the cooperation agreement with Grupa Azoty strengthens our joint efforts in innovation, which could significantly impact the development of sustainable technologies in Polish industry,” said Wiesław Skwarko, Vice President of the Łukasiewicz Center.
