The Agreement marks a return to the 2013 concept aimed at fostering effective collaboration between the Tarnów-based facility and the municipal authorities. The parties plan to cooperate in areas such as the economy, infrastructure development, social policy, culture, science, and environmental protection.
The Agreement was signed at the headquarters of Grupa Azoty S.A. by the Mayor of Tarnów, Jakub Kwaśny, the Director of the Department of Entrepreneurship Support, Anna Urbaś, as well as the President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty S.A., Adam Leszkiewicz, and the Vice President of the Management Board, Andrzej Sokolowski.
Under the Agreement, the parties declared that their subsidiary companies engaged in waste management—such as Grupa Azoty Jednostka Ratownictwa Chemicznego and the Municipal Waste Management Company—will aim to strengthen their cooperation in acquiring, sorting, processing, and disposing of municipal waste. Economic utilization of these entities' assets and the placement of investments on their properties will also be considered.
“We have jointly identified key areas for future cooperation. Although we are currently implementing recovery measures across the entire Capital Group, which required us to withdraw from all sponsorship activities, we still see significant potential for supporting critical projects together. We are returning to the principles of the 2013 Agreement, a time when collaboration between the Tarnów branch of the Group and the municipal government brought mutual benefits for both sides,” said Adam Leszkiewicz, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty S.A.
As part of the Agreement, the Group expressed its willingness to provide long-term support for social initiatives organized in Tarnów. The company will continue to cooperate with educational institutions in the city, offering internships for school and university students, support in researching diploma projects, as well as providing patronage for competitions and thematic Olympiads.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of Tarnów will consult with Grupa Azoty on strategic and development projects that may impact the activities of the Group and its subsidiaries. Additionally, it will be possible to promote the economic potential of Grupa Azoty and its Capital Group both within Tarnów and beyond. The Tarnów facility will also be informed about tenders for investment, modernization, research, laboratory, and design projects that could be carried out by entities within the Grupa Azoty Capital Group.
“Grupa Azoty is one of the region’s strategic enterprises, and its history is an inseparable part of Tarnów. Our mutual cooperation is essential because when Azoty thrives, Tarnów thrives. We hope to strengthen and build on this partnership in the coming years,” said Jakub Kwaśny, Mayor of Tarnów.
Detailed actions in the identified areas will be defined in separate agreements or contracts.
