Grupa Azoty expands its fertilizer segment and adds a new sulphur-containing product to its portfolio

The fertilizer segment remains Grupa Azoty’s core area of activity. In line with the adopted strategy, fertilizers are to underpin the development of a stable organisation with a scale enabling effective competition in the European market, while supporting food security in Poland and the region. The launch of a new product is another step towards building a stable, competitive fertilizer segment which - according to the strategy - is to form the foundation of Grupa Azoty’s business in the coming years.

As part of delivering these objectives, the Group is expanding its portfolio with a new nitrogen–sulphur fertilizer with added calcium—DuoS®. The product follows the trend of improving nutrient use efficiency and reducing losses associated with leaching and the instability of nitrogen and sulphur forms.

DuoS® is one of the new fertilizer formulations planned for implementation in the current season, consistent with the strategic direction of developing the fertilizer segment and the Group’s focus on more specialised products.

‘Developing more advanced fertilizer formulations is part of our focus on our key technological competences. We clearly see a trend towards products that increase nutrient use efficiency and reduce environmental losses. DuoS® responds to these needs by combining proven solutions with a precisely designed nutrient-release profile,’said Jacek Zaborowski, Director of the Corporate Trading Department, AGRO Segment, at Grupa Azoty.

The differentiated sulphur release dynamics ensure availability both in the initial growth stages and later in the growing season. Modified nitrogen-to-sulphur ratios have been aligned with crops’ nutrient uptake curves, reducing the risk of overstimulating crops during sensitive periods (including early spring and late autumn).

The new formulation is based on:

  • two forms of nitrogen (nitrate and ammonium),
  • two sources of sulphur (ammonium sulphate and anhydrite),
  • the addition of calcium to support plant resilience and yield quality.
