Sustainable development and conducting business responsibly are our key objectives. Therefore, Grupa Azoty's mission is to ensure that our production operates in harmony with the environment. In Police, we have our port facilities, which is undoubtedly our advantage. However, we must remember that our environmental concerns must include initiatives to protect bodies of water, not just reducing emissions into the air. Collaboration with the Race For The Baltic Foundation opens many opportunities for us in this area, emphasized Anna Tarocińska, Member of the Management Board, acting President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty Police.

During the loading and unloading of bulk materials, some of them spill onto the port quay. An excess of nutrients, such as phosphorus, causes undesirable consequences in the water, such as algal blooms or the formation of hypoxic zones. The purchased sweeper with a side brush allows for the removal of any spilled materials, minimizing their entry into the Oder River. This contributes to reducing eutrophication, i.e., nutrient enrichment of the Baltic Sea.

We are excited about the collaboration with Grupa Azoty Police and the Port of Police. Considering the importance of Grupa Azoty as one of the leading fertilizer producers in the EU, we are keen to understand and participate in Grupa Azoty Police's efforts towards sustainable development and responsible business practices, especially in reducing the environmental impact on the Baltic Sea, said Peter Wiwen-Nilsson, General Director of Race For The Baltic.

Grupa Azoty Police and Race For The Baltic plan further joint activities. In the coming months, they plan to purchase a design and produce a protective cover to secure the gap between ships and the quay during loading and unloading of fertilizers, phosphates, and other bulk materials, preventing water pollution.

We signed an agreement in which the Race For The Baltic Foundation committed to financing the purchase of such a cover's design. After evaluating the project, we will proceed with selecting the entity to manufacture the protective cover, and we can also count on the Foundation's financial support here, emphasized Maciej Stanecki, Head of the Ports Department at Grupa Azoty Police.

Race For The Baltic, a non-profit foundation, actively implements numerous projects aimed at reducing the eutrophication of the Baltic Sea.

The Port of Police, belonging to Grupa Azoty Police, is the fourth largest port in Poland in terms of cargo mass handled. Approximately 2 million tons of cargo are handled annually. The Police company, part of the Grupa Azoty Capital Group, is the only chemical industry company in the country with specialized port facilities directly adjacent to the company. The Port of Police has four terminals for handling bulk goods such as phosphates, apatites, ilmenite ore, potash salt, fertilizers, ammonia, and sulfuric acid.
