Plastics are Grupa Azoty’s second most important business segment. “It is essential that we are recognised and appreciated for our exports of plastics. The key markets for our products are located outside of Poland and Tarnamid® is the main export product,” says Małgorzata Malec, Head of the Plastics Segment.

Tarnamid® is the trade name of Polyamide 6 produced by Grupa Azoty. It is manufactured in Tarnów, both in natural form and a wide range of modified varieties. Thanks to its exceptional strength and fatigue endurance properties, as well as high thermal and chemical resistance, it is one of the world’s key engineering plastics, used across the automotive, textile, electrical engineering, electronic and other industries, as well as in medicine.

Tarnamid® has won international recognition, as confirmed by numerous awards and distinctions. In 2017, Grupa Azoty has already been distinguished at the 21st International Fair of Plastics and Rubber Processing PLASTPOL, held in Kielce, for new types of Tarnamid® with reduced flammability (compliant with EN 45545-2013) and dedicated to railway applications.

This year, the newly launched Polyamide Plant II in Tarnów, with an annual capacity of 80 thousand tonnes, has enabled the company to double the production of this plastic and balance its caprolactam and polyamide production capacities. The new plant produces high-grade Polyamide 6 for injection moulding and extrusion. Grupa Azoty is the third largest integrated producer of PA6 in the European Union.

The Association of Polish Exporters was established on the initiative of entrepreneurs in 2002, as a self-governing body of exporters. It supports businesses and governmental authorities in their initiatives designed to boost exports as a driving force behind Poland’s economic growth. At present, it has more than 300 members and maintains direct contacts with about five thousand companies throughout Poland. The Association cooperates with small, medium-sized and large export manufacturers from all industries and all regions of Poland. It organises congresses and conferences promoting export growth, as well as two prestigious awards: ‘Outstanding Exporter of the Year’ and ‘Leader of Polish Export’. In 2017, Grupa Azoty has been awarded in both competitions.

The ‘Outstanding Exporter of the Year’ title granted by the Association of Polish Exporters goes hand in hand with the ‘Super Biznes Golden Laurel – Poland’s Ambassador to the World’ distinction awarded to Grupa Azoty this year by the editorial staff of Super Express in partnership with the Polish Chamber of Commerce, Business Centre Club, and Employers of Poland. The distinction testifies to the fact the Polish-based chemical industry giant’s business brings special benefits to the national economy and fosters the development of entrepreneurship in Poland. It also highlights Grupa Azoty’s position on export markets as an essential element of Poland’s economy and image abroad.

The Grupa Azoty Group is the undisputed leader of the fertilizer and chemical market in Poland and one of its key players in Europe. It is the second largest EU-based manufacturer of nitrogen and compound fertilizers, and its other products, including melamine, caprolactam, polyamide, oxo alcohols and titanium white, enjoy an equally strong standing in the chemical sector, with a wide range of applications in various industries. In May 2017, the Group announced its updated strategy until 2020. The key development areas include finalising the Group’s consolidation, reinforcing its leadership in agricultural solutions in Europe, strengthening its second operating pillar through expansion of the non-fertilizer business, and generating and implementing innovations to accelerate growth in the chemical sector.
