Hyundai Engineering enters the Polimery Police construction site
In the presence of the Szczecin Province Governor Tomasz Hinc and the President of Grupa Azoty’s Management Board Wojciech Wardacki, the Management Board of Grupa Azoty Polyolefins ceremonially handed over possession of the construction site to Hyundai Engineering Co. Ltd. (“Hyundai”). The general contractor will thus be able to start construction work in the area of the future new storage and handling terminal.

On January 7th 2020, Grupa Azoty Polyolefins made a ceremonial handover of possession of the construction site to the general contractor of the Polimery Police project. The construction works will be carried out on the basis of a permit signed on December 20th 2019 by Marek Subocz, Deputy Governor of Szczecin Province. The building permit concerns the works to be performed in the area of the Storage and Handling Terminal. It is the first in a series of many building permits which are currently being processed by local government authorities.

“I’m very plased that today we can hand over possession of the construction site to our general contractor, who will immediately begin work on the site. We have reached another milestone in the project schedule, which is a good prognostic for the whole year just started. I believe that from now on we will see tangible progress in the works, and in the nearest future we will enable Hyundai to proceed with building work on further components of the plant,” said Wojciech Wardacki, President of the Management Boards of Grupa Azoty S.A. and Grupa Azoty Zakłady Chemiczne Police S.A., during the ceremony.

The Polimery Police integrated chemical complex will comprise propylene and polypropylene production units, a storage and handling terminal, and logistics infrastructure. The total estimated budget of the project is over EUR 1.5bn (approximately PLN 6.5bn), which makes it the largest investment project in the Polish chemical industry. The construction is to be completed as early as in 2022, and the first deliveries to commercial customers are planned for the fourth quarter of this year.

In addition to the general contractor, Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd., the meeting was also attended by:

  • Tomasz Hinc, Szczecin Province Governor
  • Leszek Dobrzyński, Member of the Sejm (Lower Chamber of the Polish Parliament)
  • Marian Krzemiński, Vice President of the LOTOS Group Management Board, Chief Investment and Innovation Officer
  • Kim Won Ock, Project Director for Hyundai Engineering
