Collaboration on developing the Police Marine Port area—aimed at utilizing port lands and creating a joint investment offer—is the primary objective of an agreement signed by Grupa Azoty Police, the Marshal’s Office of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, the Police County Office, the Police Municipal Office, and the Police Marine Port Authority. The agreement covers more than 300 plots of land, totaling over 460 hectares. This initiative aligns with Grupa Azoty’s strategy to enhance the potential of its port infrastructure.
“The Grupa Azoty Police Marine Port is a major asset that we aim to fully leverage, particularly during this period of intensive efforts to restore financial stability to the Grupa Azoty Group. We have ambitious plans for the development of the port area. This location, with its existing technical infrastructure, offers great potential for production and industrial activities, paving the way for hundreds of new jobs in Police. A railway junction is currently under construction as part of the new Line No. 437 to the Police Marine Port, funded by over €33 million in EU grants last year. Once connected to the national and international rail network, we will enhance our cargo-handling capabilities and enable intermodal transport at the port,” said Andrzej Dawidowski, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty Police and Vice-President of Grupa Azoty S.A..
The Zakłady Chemiczne Police plant has long been one of the region’s key economic landmarks and largest employers.
“Grupa Azoty’s financial situation is not ideal due to actions taken by previous management, but the current board’s efforts are producing visible results. I congratulate the current leadership on their effectiveness and welcome renewed collaboration with the regional government. Diversifying production activities is essential in today’s rapidly evolving chemical and economic landscape, where sectors such as offshore operations and green raw materials are gaining importance. Our goal is to develop a unique economic hub around the Police Marine Port, supported by the ongoing establishment of a logistics and industrial park. This will be further strengthened by the railway siding and the West Szczecin Bypass, linking the area to the Goleniów Industrial Park,” said Olgierd Geblewicz, Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
In parallel with port-related investments, tenders have been announced for the construction of the West Szczecin Bypass, which will significantly improve transport infrastructure. An additional project—the Szczecin Rail Bypass, advocated by Grupa Azoty’s Police subsidiary—would reroute hazardous material transport away from urban areas in both Police and Szczecin.
The agreement aims to enhance the economic potential and investment attractiveness of the Police Municipality as a business-friendly location while improving the competitiveness of the regional labor market. These efforts are designed to boost revenues from port-handling operations, leases, port services, and local fees. The development of the port area will create opportunities for companies in the chemical, fuel, steel construction, offshore, renewable energy, and logistics industries, leading to significant job creation.
“The signing of this agreement opens new opportunities for regional development. By working together to develop the Police Marine Port area, we can attract investors and create new jobs. Infrastructure investments will enhance our region’s competitiveness, benefiting both the economy and local residents. We are proud to participate in this vital initiative,” said Shivan Fate, Starosta of Police County.
“Thanks to these infrastructure projects within our municipality and in Szczecin, Police is becoming an increasingly appealing investment destination. Key partners are eager to invest here,” noted Krystian Kowalewski, Mayor of Police. “This will undoubtedly improve the quality of our labor market while creating new economic prospects. New capital and investments will enhance the financial security of both the municipality and its residents.”
