Grupa Azoty S.A. will support speedway in its home city for another season, having signed agreements with the local club Unia Tarnów Żużlowa Sportowa Spółka Akcyjna and with individual speedway riders, ensuring full financial security for the club’s sporting activities. In the 2023 season, Grupa Azoty S.A. will increase its financial commitment, which should help the team deliver a sporting success.
Grupa Azoty has provided support to Unia Tarnów for close to seven decades now, since the speedway section was first established at what was then the Unia Tarnów Company Sports Club. The club’s most successful seasons to date were: 1994, 2004, 2005, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Grupa Azoty has contributed to their every success, including as three-time winners of the title of Polish Team Champions.
In the 2023 season, Grupa Azoty will again be the club’s main partner and title sponsor. In the upcoming season, the speedway team will be competing under the name of Grupa Azoty Unia Tarnów. The new logos will appear on the riders’ kevlar race suits and motorcycle covers. Under relevant agreements, the Company will also be the main partner of each rider individually.
“Grupa Azoty has a long-standing tradition of actively supporting both professional and amateur sports in Tarnów, including speedway, volleyball, handball and football, also among children and youth. We have been with Unia Tarnów since the beginning of the speedway section at what was then the in-company sports club. We hope that our adopted model of partnership with individual speedway riders will translate into improved performance of the entire team. We have also increased our total sponsorship budget, realising that we are the only major partner of Tarnów speedway for another consecutive season. 2023 is, unfortunately, another sad year when the speedway club from Tarnów must do without significant support from the city authorities,” says Zbigniew Paprocki Member of the Management Board, Director General of Grupa Azoty S.A.
“Grupa Azoty has made sure that our riders have the right conditions to practise here in Tarnów, which should improve their sporting performance and the quality of training for our club’s beginners and juniors. The company will be our main partner and title sponsor for the 2023 season. This means a great commitment and responsibility for our club. Our partnership has continued ever since we set up the speedway section, nearly seventy years ago. Having Grupa Azoty as a sponsor gives us financial stability and an opportunity for continuous development, which we particularly appreciate. We hope that our requests and appeals will finally reach the city authorities, who will offer us at least partially comparable financial support, showing respect for the local residents, for whom Tarnów speedway is the most important sport,” saysDaniel Bałut, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Unia Tarnów ŻSSA.
