This Friday, April 21st, Grupa Azoty and the Mościce Housing Estate Council will once again be organising the Collect and Segregate campaign with the slogan ‘You can do more than you think’. The initiative, being held as part of the World Earth Day, attracted several hundred people last year. This year, the organisers are again inviting all residents of Tarnów to join in.
The clean-up campaign will be launched by Zbigniew Paprocki, Member of the Management Board and CEO of Grupa Azoty S.A., on Friday at 10:00 am, in front of the Mościce Arts Centre. The event will see the participation of residents, Grupa Azoty employees, pre-schoolers, and primary and secondary school students, who will spend the day cleaning the green areas of the Mościce housing estate.
The initiative seeks to draw attention to correct waste segregation, with a focus on responsible management of recyclable materials such as metal, glass, paper, and, notably, plastics, which are manufactured by Grupa Azoty. The purpose of the planned activities is to increase awareness of the significant impact environmentally conscious decisions may have.
The event organisers emphasise that every individual can play a crucial role in protecting the environment. Based on the statistical evidence they cite, in Poland alone, 400 million aluminium cans are used each year, which can be recycled and reused an infinite number of times. Recycling just six scrap cans save an amount of energy equivalent to burning one litre of fuel. On the other hand, a discarded can in a wooded area may become a deadly trap for numerous insects and small animals, including reptiles and amphibians. The campaign provides similar information about other recyclable materials to demonstrate how much depends on our everyday, even small, actions.
All participants of the Friday's clean-up will be provided with the necessary materials, i.e. bags and gloves. The partners of the event are Tegro Distribution and Dantar.
