Under the agreement, Grupa Azoty S.A. and the University of Applied Sciences in Tarnów declared their intention to undertake joint efforts aimed at achieving synergy between science and industry. The agreement provides, among others, for substantive support to be provided for the activities conducted by Grupa Azoty S.A. by granting access to research facilities and preparing appropriate expert opinions by the Tarnów-based university.
Grupa Azoty S.A. will also be able to benefit from scientific research conducted for its needs. Another joint effort is also to be undertaken with respect to obtaining funds (grants) for initiating and conducting research work.
“Grupa Azoty has been investing heavily in research, development and innovation in recent years. It is one of the pillars of our business and a source of competitive advantage. We have a corporate Research and Development Centre in Tarnów, where we work on diversifying our product portfolio or technologies that support our transition towards the European Green Deal. Cooperation with the scientific environment also plays a significant role in this process. I am confident that the new phase in our cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences will bring tangible benefits to both parties,” emphasised Grzegorz Kądzielawski, PhD., Vice President of the Grupa Azoty S.A. Management Board.
Grupa Azoty S.A. has declared that as part of the cooperation it will enable students to complete work placements and internships, and will also coordinate and provide professional support for the purposes of bachelor’s, engineering and master’s theses on subjects relating to the company’s business profile. Moreover, the University of Applied Sciences will be able to count on support for students’ activities and expert consultations. Students will be granted access to the laboratories and equipment for specialised training at the various Departments and Centres of Grupa Azoty S.A.
“Grupa Azoty is open to cooperation with higher learning institutions. Thanks to our joint efforts, we will train specialists who can join our company’s workforce in the future. There are many provisions in our agreement which I hope will soon translate into concrete actions,” said Zbigniew Paprocki, Member of the Management Board and CEO of Grupa Azoty S.A.
“Grupa Azoty has been one of our most important partners for years. The document was signed today, but it was the result of many months of work by the representatives of Grupa Azoty and our employees under the leadership of the Prorector, Rafał Kurczab. I would like to thank all the parties involved in making it possible that today, together with Management Board Presidents Grzegorz Kądzielawski and Zbigniew Paprocki, we can put our signatures to the agreement,” said Małgorzata Kołpa, Dr. Habil., Rector of the University of Applied Sciences in Tarnów.
“We worked on the details of the agreement for many months. Thanks to the commitment of many directors and managers from the Group and representatives of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Polytechnic Faculty of the University of Applied Sciences, we put in the agreement the most important provisions for both parties, offering a chance for genuine cooperation and very measurable benefits. I am happy that we can open a new chapter in our relations,” said one of the initiators of signing the agreement, Rafał Kurczab, Dr. Habil., the University’s Vice-Rector for Science and Development. “It is important, because there is no strong Tarnów without Azoty and there is no strong Tarnów without the University of Applied Sciences. Together we can do something good for the whole sub-region," added the Vice Rector.
