On Tuesday, July 26th 2022, Grupa Azoty ZAK of Kędzierzyn-Koźle signed a contract with the general contractor for its Alternative Fuels Laboratory. The project is part of implementing the Grupa Azoty Group’s Strategy 2021–2030, including the Green Azoty programme.
The scope of the PLN 19.5m worth of contract with the general contractor provides for the construction of a laboratory with a usable area of more than 900 m2. In addition to a hydrogen analysis laboratory including a physical and chemical testing lab, the facility will also house a metal analysis lab and all necessary facilities supporting the work of both departments.
‘The Alternative Fuels Laboratory is another project implemented under the Grupa Azoty Group’s 2030 strategy that was unveiled last year, including our flagship project Green Azoty. Hydrogen technology development is key to enabling the transition towards a low- and zero-carbon economy, which is why Grupa Azoty wants to actively participate in the process,’ said Tomasz Hinc, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty S.A.
‘The Alternative Fuels Laboratory will allow us to launch the operations of testing the quality of hydrogen for use in fuel cells. The project is vital for the business of the entire Grupa Azoty Group as the largest producer of hydrogen in Poland,’ explained Paweł Stańczyk, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty ZAK.
The project fits into the strategic corporate project Green Azoty, which aims to position the Grupa Azoty Group as an active player in the development of the European hydrogen market.
The construction of the facility is due for completion in 2023.
