The walk-in phytotron chamber built next to the Research and Development Centre of Grupa Azoty S.A. in Tarnów will enable the company to conduct research under controlled conditions of temperature, light, carbon dioxide concentration, and humidity. The project will help to investigate the effects of various amounts of tested fertilizer formulations on plants regardless of the season of the year or external conditions. The phytotron cost approximately PLN 1.5m. A research greenhouse will also be built next to the Research and Development Centre to enhance the company’s research capabilities in exploring plant growth and soil processes.
Grupa Azoty S.A. will support speedway in its home city for another season, having signed agreements with the local club Unia Tarnów Żużlowa Sportowa Spółka Akcyjna and with individual speedway riders, ensuring full financial security for the club’s sporting activities. In the 2023 season, Grupa Azoty S.A. will increase its financial commitment, which should help the team deliver a sporting success.
The Grupa Azoty Group recorded negative fourth-quarter 2022 EBITDA, with the earnings dragged down chiefly by the Agro Segment. The Group posted full-year 2022 consolidated revenue of PLN 24,658m, EBITDA of PLN 2,545m and EBITDA margin of 10.3%.
Grupa Azoty Police, the US-based Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC) and the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin have signed an agreement to develop and construct a nuclear energy research facility based on Ultra Safe Nuclear’s Micro-Modular™ Reactor (MMR®) technology. Over the next six months, the parties will prepare a comprehensive research programme and will jointly develop a plan for the construction, operation and maintenance of the MMR.
On Tuesday March 27th, the first shipment of ethylene was delivered under the Polimery Police project, arriving at the Offshore Gas Terminal in Police. The first 3,500 tonnes of the raw material were delivered to Grupa Azoty Polyolefins S.A. on board the Gaschem Rhone vessel. The company estimates its annual ethylene requirement at about 13,000 tonnes.
The editorial board of the Wprost weekly magazine recognised Grupa Azoty S.A. awarding it with the title of Employer of the Region in the region of Lesser Poland (Province of Kraków). In their explanation for the award, the editors noted that the Company took a number of measures to safeguard its employees in the face of exceptionally challenging market conditions – such as production cuts prompted by drastic increases in the prices of feedstock, mainly natural gas. The award was collected on behalf of the Company by Zbigniew Paprocki, Director General, Member of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty S.A.
